The bold and the beautiful!
Glowing colours from red-ish orange to radiant copper, reminiscent of those golden autumn moments. The contrast between the flowers and green leaves is striking.
Amazing cut flowers.
Exclusive to My Cottage Garden and lovingly selected by yours truly, they make the perfect gifts – for someone you love or from you to you, just because...
What's in the (beautiful) box (1 of each variety):
"Night Silence", "Brown Sugar", "Sylvia", "Jowey Winnie", "Bacardi"
Tip: Pinch dahlias as soon as they are 20cm to 30cm (8" to 12") tall: simply shorten the shoot tip by a third. This way, they'll form more shoots, flower more and look bushier.
And, if you're hungry for more dahlia details, have a look at my "DAHLIA DELIGHT" eBook. Everything you ever wanted to know about caring for your dahlias and, of course, full to the brim with beautiful photos and inspiration.
Planting: May, after the last frost — dahlias are sensitive to frost! Or pre-grow them in a frost-free environment.
Location: Preferably in full sun. Dahlias also tolerate partial shade, but they won't flower as lavishly.
Flowering period: July to the first frost
Colour: All colours of a sunset
Height: 80cm – 100cm (32" – 40")
Spacing: 50cm – 75cm (20" – 30")
Quantity: 5 tubers
🐝 Dahlias are often wrongly described as not insect-friendly. But for most of them, as soon as the flowers open up (even the fully double ones), Bees & Co can access stamen and pollen.
