By "silence", we're presumably referring to the calm before the storm. Or, in this case, the flower storm. Her big, pink, lavish flowers will soon sweep their way through your garden.
A classic beauty, she also cuts a particularly fine figure in a vase.
Tip: Pinch dahlias as soon as they are 20cm to 30cm (8" to 12") tall: simply shorten the shoot tip by a third. This way, they'll form more shoots, flower more and look bushier.
